Mindfulness for Everyday Living
What is Mindfulness?
A science based practice of bringing attention to the present moment on purpose with kindness and curiosity. The purpose is to build the skills of attention and focus. Sounds easy and some days it is. Then there are the other times when we get caught up in the busy-ness of our lives. In my classes, I give examples of outcomes from scientific studies that show how mindfulness may change our brains for the better and enrich our lives. We also get to try different mindfulness techniques that start training our brains to bring awareness to what is going on right in front of us. Some practices are sitting, standing or moving. Everyone can participate and learn. We may focus on the breath, the body or all our senses. Sometimes it's just one of these or it could incorporate all of these. There are formal practices that are purposeful and timed and then there are informal practices that may only take seconds just to notice and become aware of what is happening in the mind and body. These practices may improve memory, mood, concentration and resiliency. All lead to more awareness and attention to what is real and true. |
50Plus Lunch & Learn Series
"Chrissy is fantastic! She gracefully engages the audience and naturally connects with them on their own level. She skillfully makes them laugh and also leads them to listen closely and take her seriously. If you want an amazing speaker with a talent for engaging and moving the audience, have Chrissy teach your class or present to your audience. She's awesome!" Blake Hollers, Event Sponsor |
